DEFINITION  :

Newspapers are the record of current affairs . It is the medium through  which public opinion finds expression  . Various items of news are  published in the newspaper .

            All classes of men- businessmen , teachers ,  students , lawyers, players , finds some items  in the newspaper that may interest them . The government  gathers  public  opinion through newspapers.  Thus it is very important in the life of a civilized  nation today .


CLASSES OF NEWSPAPERS :

There are  different class of newspapers .They are dailies , weeklies ,bi-weeklies etc.Daily news papers have been most popular now-a-days.The weeklies and bi-weeklies also attract us with valuable and scholarly  articles publish in them.

THE USE OF NEWSPAPER:   

We cannot think  of living now-a-days without newspapers.it is considered to be as useful and necessary as food.People of any profession feel the need of going through the headlines of newspaper after breakfast.Students, teachers, lawyers ,businessmen cannot do without newspapers.New thoughts and ideas can easily and promptly be spread among the people of different parts of the world through the newspaper.To the businessmen  it is very useful.They can easily have business information through newspapers.Newspapers have enabled us to come in close touch with the people of
different parts of the world.The news of an incident happening at a distant part of the globe may be found in a newspapers.Besides, we can exchange our opinion or ideas regarding something through newspapers.

EVILS OF MISLEADING OR EXAGGERATED NEWS:


Sometimes newspapers may mislead people by publishing coloured or exaggerated news. Such news may bring about disturbance and chaos. Some party papers for the interest of their party may resort to such means through their paper.The government  should see to this and take necessary action to censure such news.


INTRODUCTION AND POPULARITY OF NEWSPAPERS IN INDIA:

In India,newspaper came late .The first newspaper in India  was the ' Bengal  Gazette'. It came to light in 1744 .In   November 1780, the India Gazette appeared; it supported the Company government .

                   Thus  newspaper  are very helpful now-a-days in our life . The journalists should aim at giving good and healthy guidance to the people through the newspapers.
